(aka LOTS of pictures :))
It seemed like forever since we had visited Joe's Dad and family in Florida. We were so excited to go! Joe was in Oregon for school, got home late on a Thursday night, and we left that Saturday morning for a week. The packing and the anticipation of flying with two young kids was enough to wear me out... but the reality was much better. They really did great.
Avery was so proud - carrying her own carry-on (which just HAD to be rolled at times because, well, it had wheels :)).
Yes, the bib is a bit cheesy, but it's the most absorbent one we own (for all his drool/spit up) and I thought it would help strangers from "aw, SHE'S so cute" (I tell ya, it happens).
Avery LOVED riding the "train" at the DFW airport.
We flew right through nap time and Avery didn't nap at all on the flights... but as soon as we arrived in Florida, she fell asleep on Uncle Steve while we waited for our bags at baggage claim. So sweet.
Our first morning there started out with baby muffins - Avery decided it was the coolest place ever.
(SIDE NOTE - Joe's younger sisters Lindsey and Lauren were only there that first night and headed back to college the next day because their spring break was the week before ours. We didn't get to see much of them, and I'm so sad I didn't get any pictures with them! Avery enjoyed hanging out with them for a bit and they are SO great with her!)
Grandpa Lynn taught Avery "here's the church and here's the steeple, open the doors and see all the people!" (She still talks about it and shows us :))
Ezra was "almost" on a nap schedule right before we left town... so we just went with the flow. We decided to operate on Wichita time... which was still confusing because we traveled right during Daylight Savings! This became Ezra's nap spot. :)
Watching basketball with Daddy...
A shopping outing with "Grandma Chelle" as Avery calls her. :)
Grandma Chelle bought Avery a baby chocolate cupcake. You would have thought it was Christmas. Avery loves all things miniature... and if it's chocolate?!? Whoa.
Ever since I went to China, I have been a bit obsessed with Boba (milk tea). They had a Bubble Tea place in the mall, so I convinced Rochelle to try it with me. She liked it!
We only traveled with one stroller - a frame for Ezra's car seat. He was tired of sitting in it, so Joe carried him for a bit. Avery wanted to be silly and ride in the stroller. Hard to believe she used to be swallowed up by that seat!
Avery's first boba. She liked it. :)
Avery's (and our) favorite thing about Lynn and Rochelle's new house - it has a pool!
Ezra's first swimming experience...
Look at my chubby boy! (almost 5 months old at this time)
I had to get a little video of him kicking around... and I know it's a tad long, but the end is funny because Avery asks me to get in the water "with my shirt on". :)
We even got to swim at night... SO fun!
Grandma Chelle, Aunt Lindsey, and Aunt Lauren went to Disney World recently. They got Avery some princess figurines (she still plays with them daily). For some reason, they had to be in a circle with my phone...
This picture is just to show the cute outfit Jacklyn got for Avery. The girl is pretty cute, too :)
A few attempts at a family photo...
Grandpa Lynn took us to Breakers - a famous hotel - for lunch one day.
Avery and I took some silly pictures while waiting for our lunch to arrive.
Then we got to see the OCEAN! Avery said it like that. every. time. She has technically seen the ocean before, but not that she can remember. :)
Ezra thought the ocean was pretty cool.
Uncle Steve... he stayed at Lynn and Rochelle's house as well, so it was really great to get to spend quality time with him. He's Joe's little brother (they're only 13 months apart). Avery ADORED him.
She followed Steve around all weekend. She knew that he had an early flight and made me promise to wake her up to say goodbye. I was hesitant, so I barely woke her up in time. She ran after him (with all her "snuggle stuff") just to make sure she said goodbye.
So sweet.
Swim time! (that was most of the time, by the way :))
Since we won't be together for my birthday this year, and I'm turning (ahem ahem - cough) 30, Rochelle was SO sweet and bought a cake for us to celebrate early!
Joe's Dad came home from a late meeting so we had to capture him in a tie. :)
Packing up to leave, Grandma Chelle and Avery (with Kelsi peeking out) had some last moments together (Avery misses her so much - asks about her daily).
Off we go!
Just thought I'd grab a picture of us with all of our stuff... you should have seen us going through security!
As I mentioned, the kids did great. Avery was a model passenger (we even got numerous compliments on her behavior and manners - makes a mommy proud). Ezra slept on all the flights at some point. We did have one crying bout that lasted about 5 minutes (longest 5 minutes of my life). Thankfully I was able to calm him down... well, actually I just chose to nurse him to quiet him. Ha. The only other screaming was when I had to change his diaper in the airplane bathroom... on a hard tiny changing table... during turbulence. I'm sure people wondered what was going on in there.
We had a wonderful trip. I was exhausted when we got home, but it was so worth getting to see our family! I wish we could see them more often!
