I'm so sorry it's been a while... I really am trying to get the hang of this whole blogging thing! Funny how I check other people's blogs daily, but hardly update mine - ha.
Here are sonogram pictures!! Yea! Joe and I went to the doctor on January 2nd and had a wonderfully nice nurse do our sonogram. It was so fun! They put the live video up on a flatscreen so you can watch along. We found out that we're a little farther along than we originally thought, so our due date is now May 17th - wahoo! I'm all about moving the date closer!!
I know it's hard to tell what things are in sonogram pics... so I'm thankful that the nurse labeled everything for us! I think you can click on the image to see them bigger, if you want to.
The first pic is apparently our little one's ear. I'm still having trouble seeing it, but that's okay - I was just excited that our baby had an ear! :)
The second pic was a little hard to get, apparently Baby "Spanky" was moving it's legs a lot. The nurse was patient and finally got a pic of the foot - she said no club feet for our baby - praise the Lord!
The third pic was our first shot of the profile... pretty amazing. To see our baby's little nose and face, as well as the belly... wow.

Here's one more pic of the profile - right after she took this pic, we were able to see the umbilical cord going right into baby's tummy - so cool! From this view the nurse was able to tell us that our baby's kidneys are working wonderfully! She also measured the skull and the thickness told her that all is well developmentally and our baby isn't at risk for any of the diseases they check for at this point. It's amazing what they can find out from these pics!
The last couple are my favorite pics. She wanted to get baby's face straight-on, but our baby was cuddled up with it's arms in front of it's face. The nurse said, "usually if I bump baby in the rear, it'll move it's hands away" - sure enough, as she hit my stomach around (weird :)), we saw our baby move it's arms away from it's face. Then, we saw baby sucking - the nurse pointed out the little tongue moving - she said it's a good sign that baby is swallowing correctly!
The last pic is my absolute favorite. As the nurse was talking about the baby sucking and checking the heart, I think our baby got tired - it yawned HUGE! It was amazing to watch it curl up it's hands by it's face while letting out a humongous yawn. The nurse rushed to capture the pic, and got the very end of the yawn. I loved it!

So there are the current pics of "Baby Spanky" for all that have been asking. :) We are so incredibly thankful for a healthy baby thus far. God is so faithful. I can't tell you how excited I was to see two arms and two legs! :) Ha ha. To hear the nurse say that everything looks perfect was such a relief - and so exciting. I loved sharing these moments with Joe - he's the best husband in the world. My favorite part was watching his face as he saw his baby on the screen. He is going to be an amazing Dad.
The nurse completely avoided any areas that might reveal the gender of our baby. It was funny to watch Joe squint and try to make out something - anything! The nurse said she didn't even look, so as to not slip up and tell us. We're excited at the thought of having either a boy or a girl - doesn't matter to us! :)
So as of Sunday I will be 23 weeks along... I can't believe we're only 17 weeks away from meeting our little one. I have so much to do!
Sidenote: Joe has started teaching at Sterling and is loving it. He has a great class, and they seem to enjoy him, too! I'm so proud of him!!
