Well, it's cooled down a bit (YAY!), so on Monday we decided to check it out. My sister and Malachi came, along with my mom and Mrs. Cobb. We grew up across the street from Mrs. Cobb and she became like another grandma to my sister and me.
Avery was so excited to see the "children's garden" with Malachi - she talked about it all evening before and the morning of.
It was so fun!! Everything was interactive and kid-sized. :)
I think Avery would have pumped water all day if I'd let her...
How cute is my sister's baby bump?? Malachi was so good at waiting his turn. I was proud of him - he was nice and cordial when other kids pushed themselves in front of him.
I loved these little kid-sized bridges!
So there were these flowers as big as our heads... literally.
We got Mrs. Cobb to be silly with us!
The massive tree house was definitely a favorite with the kids.
I love these two so much.
The creativity that went into this place is amazing!
Of course, my sister and I can't take a normal pic...
Avery loved the big caterpillar full of dress-up items. She kept prancing around saying, "I am a prin-cess!" I hadn't realized she was that into princesses, until she didn't want to leave her crown. :)
We wrapped things up because the kids were getting hungry. I have to insert a funny story here because I don't want to forget it...
As we were in the lobby of Botanica waiting on everyone to take potty breaks, Avery walks away from me and heads towards the front desk. This isn't typical - she usually is shy around strangers and hides behind me... not this time. She walked up to the receptionist, stood right by her, and said, "Excuse me, what are you doing?" The receptionist smiled and said, "well, dear, I just sit here and answer the phones." Avery replied, "Oh. (decent pause)... I have pockets!" The receptionist laughed and Avery showed her her pockets. So random. I love her.
We headed to Nu Way for lunch. The server gave Avery and Malachi their own little frosty mugs of root beer. So cute! Avery loved it.
So on the wall at Nu Way is a collage of James Dean pictures. All through lunch, Avery kept saying, "Look! They have pictures of my dad on the wall!" and it cracked us up. I had to text Joe this picture, telling him that I'm going to start calling him JD. Ha. I don't think Avery knows what smoking is... because I think that would have tipped her off that it's not her daddy. Lol.
We had a wonderful day, and I know we could have spent much more time there! I bet the next time I go, I'll have two kids in tow instead of one... wow.
