Preparing...

For our first open house.

This past weekend, we spent ALL DAY Saturday scrubbing every corner, every nook and cranny, to prepare for our open house on Sunday.  We hadn't had any showings yet, so we were hoping the open house would go well. :)

I didn't take many pictures since we were busy cleaning, doing paint touch-ups, cleaning... and did I mention cleaning?

Avery was great - played by herself most of the time... and for some reason, chose this measuring cup as her favorite toy for the day.

My parents came over and they were SUCH a big help!!  My dad changed out light fixtures, did minor repairs, and got the tall stuff the rest of us would never be able to reach.  My mom went to town with magic erasers (forgot how awesome those were!) and touch-up paint.  We couldn't have gotten it all done without them!

Joe went in the backyard to scoop poop (such fun), and my Mom went out to sweep the deck and make sure the yard looked all right.  Avery REALLY wanted to go outside... so though I warned her of the cold, she was more than happy to bundle up and "help" Grandma Bubba.  She played out there for so long that we eventually had to force her to come inside (her nose was so red!).

Here's a shot of that happening while I was cleaning in the kitchen:

That was the only pic I took during our cleaning day... but it was worth it.  My house has never been so clean! :) I mean, maybe each room has been that clean, but the entire house all at once???  Not so much. :)

Unfortunately, only three people came to our open house: our realtor and Chris & Lindsey (if Tucker counts, then we'll say four :)).  Chris and Lindsey just wanted to see our house - they're not in the market.  Bah humbug.

In hindsight, it wasn't the smartest idea to have an open house on the same day as MAJOR football was happening (GO PACKERS!)... so we'll try again in three weeks.

Until then, if any of you know of someone looking for a cute 3-bed 2-bath house in Wichita, send them our way!  We would really love if someone fell in love with our house the same way we did 5 1/2 years ago. :)
