Wednesday Joe took me to the doctor... the second time I've been out of the house in about a month. We were so excited to find out how "Baby Spanky" is doing. :) The beginning of the appointment was a little tense... it took the nurse quite a while to find the heartbeat. As she probed around, I felt myself getting more and more nervous. She went and got another machine and tried again... and success!! Whew! I breathed out a hugh sigh of relief, realizing I'd been holding that breath way too long. :) The nurse said when they're this little they hide sometimes, so there's nothing to worry about. The baby's heartbeat was 162 - healthy. :) Compared to my sister's visits, our baby's heartbeat is quite a bit slower... wonder what that could mean gender-wise! :) (No, we're still not going to find out :))
The doctor said that the baby is growing - all looks good so far! I did happen to lose 5 pounds since my last visit, which normally would have me jumping up and down... but doc says I should maintain or gain. He's not worried since I'm eating and keeping food down, but hopes for a higher number next time. I'll do my best. :)
I'm now 12 weeks along... crazy! I got my "mommy e-mail" yesterday telling me that our baby is now the size of a lime (over 2 inches long) and weighs about 1/2 an ounce. Wow. I'm constantly amazed at what is going on in my body. :)
Unfortunately, I'm still sick. The last couple of days have been better, though! I had no idea what pregnancy could do to me - ha ha. I'm antsy - I haven't been at work in a month and laying on the couch every day drives me crazy! I appreciate all of your prayers... I'm hoping that as I wrap up my first trimester that this sickness goes with it!!
So... I could be an official aunt really soon! My sis went to the doc on Monday and is already dilated to a 3 - so exciting!!! She's due Dec. 2nd, but I doubt she'll make it that far. Little Malachi James will be here before we know it!! YEA!! :)
What else... Joe has started playing hockey again this season - he loves it. :) I'm so glad he gets to do something he really enjoys! He's only a month away from being done with both masters, so we're both antsy for that day. Joe is also going to be an adjunct teacher at Sterling College next semester, so that's exciting!! He's looking forward to teaching at his Alma Mater. He'll be teaching a class called Leadership & Administration.
That's about it for now - I'll try to do a better job in the future! :)

Oh! I probably would have collapsed when they were looking for a heartbeat! How nerveracking. I'm so glad to hear everybody is healthy. We've been praying for you and the baby....and Joe of course too!
And hey! Good for you for not finding out the gender!!! That's what Jeremy and I think we would like to do when the time comes, too. (We'll see if we change our minds. Everyone says we will.)
Hey have you seen these tank tops! You mentioning the size of the baby made me think of these. I think they're super cute. :)

Hey Ginger~
I am so glad that everything is going well. It is so hard not to find out the baby's gender, so I hope you don't cave (like I did). We made it to 32 weeks (with Cleo) without finding out but caved at our last ultrasound because I just couldn't wait any longer!
Hang in there on the morning sickness. Mine hung on until 16 weeks but it got much better after 12, with only a couple bad days for every few good ones.
I will keep your family in my prayers!

Yes until about 15-17 weeks (oops I almost wrote months!) it takes a little time to find that little heart beat! Remember to stay calm, because the nurse wants to find it as quickly as s/he can too! (personal experience!)
I am so glad to hear you are feeling better! Keep up the persistence of waiting to find out if Spanky is a boy or girl! Personally I want Matt to see that it can be done so when our time comes! I am so excited for you and Sage! When we get settled I can't wait to start a family! Can't wait for when I get to call you to let you know you are going to be an aunt! Prayers to you and Joe!
TIME FOR AN UPDATE!!! (for those of us not fortunate to see you daily!!!)
