Playing Catch-Up!

Prepare yourself for quite a few pics - I tried to sum up the past month!

I haven't been doing so hot at blogging... and honestly I'm kind of surprised I haven't heard about it! I have a few people that bug me when I haven't posted in a while... perhaps they are being gracious, so I'll just say thanks - and the drought is over! :)

We've had quite the busy schedule... and here's proof that we're completely pooped by the time the weekend comes! A Sunday afternoon nap with Daddy...

So in early August, Avery and I took a trip. Joe had to work (he's now working THREE jobs - part-time pastor at Asbury, full-time at High Touch, and teaching one class at Sterling College). It was SO hard to leave Daddy behind, but he wanted Grandma Bubba & G-Pa (my mom and dad) to see Avery. They were up at the cabin (Wisconsin) and we're planning on going 4 weeks without seeing their granddaughter. We couldn't have that! So I decided to road trip the 750 miles with my 3-month old. THANKFULLY my dear friends Jacklyn and Chris were able to join us! I don't know how I would have made the journey without their help!!

Avery did well - we drove through the night, so she slept pretty much the whole way. We left at 4 in the afternoon and arrived at the cabin at 6:30am.

Mom was happy to see us!

Mom bought this awesome kiddie seat for the grandkids... it works great for Malachi. Avery is still too little, but Grandma Bubba wanted to try it anyway - the look on Avery's face says it all!! Ha ha...

Avery wasn't too sure about the chilly water, but it grew on her - she liked it more each time! Here she is hanging out with G-Pa :)

We went on a late night pontoon boat ride... I don't love this pic of me, but I realize that since I'm always the one with the camera, I don't have many pics of ME and my daughter! So here's one of us in our hoodies. :)

Swim time with Mommy!

So... the other reason that we've been so busy... I got a job. I wasn't looking for a job - I was planning on staying home with my beautiful round-the-clock job. :) Joe and I had even worked out our budget to allow me to stay home, though it was going to equal some sacrifices. My friend (and amazing photographer) Gina works at a photography studio with another amazing photographer, Lindsey. Most of you know I have a love for photography... I have assisted Gina with some weddings and have learned so much from her. Well, they were in need of a new Studio Manager (front desk stuff). It's part-time... AND I get to bring Avery to work with me!!!! So, I am the Studio Manager of... get this... Gingeroot Studios. So yeah, if you call the studio you'll hear "Gingeroot Studios, this is Ginger" - ha ha.

I am so grateful for the opportunity... not only do I get to be around something I love, but I get to work for two amazing and talented women. I'm not gonna lie... bringing Avery with me is rewarding and challenging at the same time. I'm only a few weeks into this and there are days I feel like a complete failure - I feel so torn sometimes - how can I give 100% to my daughter AND 100% to my job at the same time? How do I answer the phone when Avery is crying? How do I attempt to get Avery on a consistent schedule when every day is different? I completely love the job... so I'm determined to figure something out... but I'm exhausted! Hopefully I'll get more into a groove...

Anywho, here is Avery's (and my) first work meeting:

Daddy even came and visited us at work one day!

Avery is a little young yet for the bumbo... but I really needed both my arms for just a little bit! This lasted all of about 20 seconds...

I love taking Avery with me to work - it truly is such a blessing. Gina and Lindsey are saints for allowing baby gear all over the studio and dealing with clients while Avery fusses... we're hoping to teach Avery photoshop as soon as possible so she can help with editing. :)

We're getting towards the end of August...!

Avery got to go to her first "first" birthday party! Isaac turned ONE! He had a way cute rock-star themed party! His mommy & daddy did such a great job! I think Ikey likes Avery...

Joe officiated a couple of weddings this month - here's one that Avery got all dressed up for (thanks, Aunt Jacklyn, for the beautiful dress & cardigan)!

Got one with Mommy - yea!

One of the last events of the month - the High Touch company picnic. HT is my dad's company, but Joe happens to work there, too. It was at Tanganyika - we had a great time! Here's Grandma Bubba & her granddaughter:

All the sight-seeing must have worn our little girl out... and G-Pa's shoulder is a great place for a nap... :)

That's what's been going on with us - sorry again for the delay! The fall just tends to get more busy, so I'll try to stay on top of this!

Ginger, I took H to work with me the first 5 months. I loved the flexability, but man I felt like a failure most days too. I always felt like something was being neglected. The flip side was that H got use to lots of people around. Someone was always there to smile, hold or play with him. I think he's growing to be a people person because of all the interactions those first months. Hang in there! What an awesome blessing for you guys!
