29 weeks...

I cannot believe that we're 29 weeks along!! Where has time gone?? I am enjoying the second trimester, and it wasn't until my doctor's appointment on Tuesday that I realized how fast things are going! :) I start going every 2 weeks now instead of 4... then the last month or so I will go every week - that's not far away!

This appointment was almost as fun as most appointments... I had to do the glucose test. This means I have to drink a bottle of SUPER SUGARY liquid yucky stuff, then wait an hour and let them draw blood (most of you know how wonderful I am with needles... ha). To top it all off, there was a little miscommunication between nurses (no worries, it happens), but I waited up in the lab for quite a while before they realized what I was there for. When they finally called my name, they said they weren't sure if there was time to do the test or not... but they were going to try and make it happen. Okay, they meaning ME, because they handed me the bottle of "lemon-lime" goodness and said, "can you drink this as fast as possible?" It was clear, so I thought I could chug it down like water... yeah, not so much. My sister said she got fruit punch flavor - I think that would have been better! Anywho, I got it down (though I gagged the last few drinks). :)

I'm not used to a ton of sugar, so my body kinda went haywire - in the waiting room I was talking to my mom and felt like I could talk 90 miles a minute!  My mom kept laughing at me changing subjects mid-sentence - she kept up pretty well.

The rest of my appointment went well - I only gained 2 pounds this month (yea!), which Dr. Kauffman said was perfect. :) The baby's heartbeat was 138 - strong and healthy. All looks great so far, praise the Lord! :)

Mom went with me since Joe had to work - it's always more fun with someone else there. :) She likes to take pics of the entire process, so here's the nurse prodding my lovely large belly (I'm smiling because my FAVORITE part of appointments is hearing the heartbeat):

Here's a pic of me, happy and preggo BEFORE getting blood drawn... and on a sugar high!

After the appointment I got to enjoy the other effects of the glucose test... coming down off the sugar high.  I definitely crashed.  I'm now convinced that sugar can be a drug!

Overall, I'm feeling great and enjoying every minute of being pregnant.  The baby seems to move constantly, and I love every movement (even the kicks in the ribs)!  When I haven't felt movement for 20 minutes or so, I start to miss it. :) I can now see why women say they love being pregnant (my first trimester left me wondering why anyone would CHOOSE to go through this). :)

My sister just finished maternity leave and went back to work... plug for her - if anyone needs a haircut, she's amazing!  Check out MaryKate&Co - ask for Sage. :) She works Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays... and that means that I get to watch Malachi every Thursday!  I got to hang out with him all day this past week and pretty sure I'm gonna love Thursdays. :)

Joe has been working hard as a professor - I'm so proud of him!  I thought his work load would lighten when he graduated, but it has just shifted. :) I don't love all the miles he drives each week, but I'm glad he loves teaching and enjoys his students.  We're still praying for a pastoral position at a church in the area - we'd appreciate your prayers as well!

We've been so busy lately... seems like we have something going on every night.  On top of that we're trying to work on the nursery, Joe's working on lectures and grading papers, I'm editing pics... so much to do - so little time!

the last ten weeks goes by the fastest. that my fav nurse in the picture with you! she never made me feel bad for crying and holding my breath until i heard a heartbeat :)

She's my favorite nurse, too! My sis would agree as well. :) I get so excited to hear the heartbeat that for some reason it makes me giggle when I do! I have to try so hard not to start laughing (I guess with glee) because it bounces the probe-thing around. :)

I remember having to dink that stuff. Mine was orange. At least it was carbonated, and I only had to drink about half the bottle. Just wait until you have to do that with the next one and you have to keep a 2 year old occupied the whole time.

Oh how I hated the GTT (glucose tolerance test)! I was "fotunate" enough to get to do it twice!!! :( B/c my sugars came back high! I had never felt so sick in all my life drinking that stuff and coming down off it like you said...so I assume your tests came back normal, so you dont have to do it again w/ DOUBLE the strength of the sugary stuff!

Anyway I can't believe how far along you are! S/He will be here before you know it!!! I can't wait to see pics!
